Just off the M8, Renfrew has rapid access to not only Glasgow but also Edinburgh as well as all points north and south.  The town is near Glasgow International Airport and has regular bus services, one of which links the town centre to the nearest rail station, Paisley Gilmour Street.  The Renfrew Ferry can swifty carry you over the Clyde to Yoker on the north bank.

Leisure & Receration

The town is well served with amenities and amoungst the town's shops are two Costcutters stores and a Tesco Supermarket with filling station.  Close by, Braehead retail centre offers an immense choice of shops for all tastes: Sainsbury's, M & S, Morrisons, HMV, Boots and Monsoon are only a few of the famous names in the development, not to mention IKEA and the exhilarating Xscape, complete with indoor skiing, snowboarding, ten pin bowling, a cinema and more.

Renfrew itself boasts the Renfrew Leisure Centre, which provides still more activities in its four-court mulit-purpose sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio and sauna.  Just a few minutes away are the Victory Baths, its splendid 1920s architecture housing a traditional 25-yard pool, along with sauna suite, dance studio and beauty treatment zone.  Between them the two local leisure centres accommodate dozens of pursuits, from archery to fives, karate to yoga.  Golfers need never feel neglected, as the magnificent parkland course of Renfrew Golf Club is on the doorstep, and many more are within easy reach.

Educational needs are served be several primary schools and two secondaries - the denominational Trinity High and non-denominational Renfrew High.

History

The proud heritage of Renfrew is centuries old, its title of Royal Burgh dating back to the 14th century, and ancient, aristocratic days echo still (the present Baron of Renfrew is Prince Charles).  The remarkable 19th century Town Hall, resplendent with turrets and spire, epitomises the inspirational character of an exceptional place for modern living.
